We reconsider the issue of search for a nonzero electric dipole form factor (EDM) ${d}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}(s)$ using optimal observables in ${\ensuremath{\tau}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ production by ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collisions center-of-mass energy range from $\ensuremath{\tau}$-pair threshold to about $\sqrt{s}\ensuremath{\sim}15\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. discuss general formalism and apply it two $CP$-odd that are sensitive real imaginary part ${d}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}(s)$, respectively. compute expectation values covariances these $CP$ at $\sqrt{s}=10.58\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$ with subsequent decays ${\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ into major leptonic or semihadronic modes. Search for the Electric Dipole Moment of the τ Lepton
We have searched for a CP violation signature arising from an electric dipole moment (dτ ) of the τ lepton in the e e → ττ reaction. Using an optimal observable method and 29.5 fb of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider at √ s = 10.58 GeV, we find Re(dτ ) = (1.15 ± 1.70) × 10e cm and Im(dτ ) = (−0.83 ± 0.86) × 10e cm and set the 95% confidence level limits −2.2 < Re(dτ ) ...
متن کاملThe Muon Electric Dipole Moment
The electric dipole moment of the muon (dμ) is evaluated in a two Higgs doublet model with a softly broken discrete symmetry. For tan β ≡ |v2|/|v1| ∼ 1, contributions from two loop diagrams involving the t quark and the W boson dominate; while for tan β ∼ > 10, contributions from two loop diagrams involving the b quark and the τ lepton are dominant. For 8 ∼ > tan β ∼ > 4, significant cancellati...
متن کاملNeutron Electric Dipole Moment Experiments
The possibility of a non-zero value for neutron EDM continues to be of central importance in physics and cosmology. A non-zero neutron EDM would be a direct evidence for time-reversal symmetry violation. It also implies CP-violation under the assumption of CPT invariance. To date, only two examples of CP-violation have been found: decays of neutral K mesons and B mesons. CP-violation is believe...
متن کاملNeutron Electric Dipole Moment Experiment
A.1.a General Introduction Precision measurements of the properties of the neutron present an opportunity to search for violations of fundamental symmetries and to make critical tests of the validity of the Standard Model (SM) of electroweak (EW) interactions. These experiments have been pursued with great energy and interest since Chadwick [i] discovered the neutron in 1932. Searches for the e...
متن کاملMeasurement of the tau electric dipole moment using longitudinal polarization of e+e- beams.
Certain CP-odd momentum correlations in the production and subsequent decay of τ pairs in e+e− collisions are enhanced significantly when the e+ and e− beams are longitudinally polarized. These may be used to probe the real and imaginary parts of dτ , the electric dipole moment of the τ . Closedform expressions for these “vector correlations” and the standard deviation of the operators defining...
